Heavenly Father,
You are resplendent with light; more magnificent than a mountain rich with game.
Father, forgive us for taking the lives of these beautiful creatures, these deer that you've blessed us with in such abundance. But even in the sadness we feel when a deer dies, we thank you Father for the food it puts on our table and for the ability it gives us to help others.
We thank You also for the way the whitetail deer bring us together... For the shared anticipation and the fellowship of the hunt... For the rites of passage and the celebratory feasts.
Father, we ask you to bless the herd and to continue to bless us with this harvest. We ask only for the deer we need and that we may share the harvest with the neediest among us, thus sharing it with You.
Keep us safe on the hunt Lord. Keep our eyes clear and our hearts full of Your joy.
And bless us with the wisdom to know when to squeeze the trigger and when to let them walk.
