Pitcher Jordan Zimmerman will take the hill today, as the Washington Nationals try to rebound from a game one loss in the National League Divsion Series to the Giants. We've waited two years to see the Nats back in the playoffs, and I'm thrilled to say that my son Jake and I will be in the stands at Nats Park.
The Nats have battled their way out of a lot of tough spots this year, and I'm confident they will come back strong tonight.
I only wish my mom and dad were alive to see it...
Meanwhile, down in Oxford, Mississippi, Coach Hugh Freeze and the Ole Miss Rebels will take on Alabama in what's being called the biggest football game for Ole Miss in decades. It's easily the biggest game for the Rebs since before I lost my friend Jose de la Vega back in 1998.
Jose was a legend on the Ole Miss campus and like a big brother to me. I still think of him often, and on game days I imgaine how loud it must be in Heaven. . . Hotty Toddy my old friend.
And to my mom and dad, I've gotten use to you being gone, but the pain of being without you never really goes away. I will smile today though, when I think of you, knowing your smiling down on us when we reach our seats in Nats Park.
